Somato Emotional Release

Upledger and Karni Research Report

SomatoEmotional Release is a dynamic therapeutic process that expands on the principles of CranioSacral Therapy to help rid the mind and body of the residual effects of trauma.

Joint research conducted by Dr. John Upledger and biophysicist Dr. Zvi Kami in the late '70vs led to the discovery that the body often retains the imprint of physical forces from accidents, injuries and emotional shock.   Those dysfunctional areas are frequently isolated in what Dr. Upledger calls "energy cysts."

Although a reasonable healthy body can adapt to energy cysts, extra energy is then required to perform normal bodily functions. As years pass, the adaptive pattern of the body loses its effectiveness. Symptoms and dysfunctions begin to appear and become increasingly difficult to suppress or ignore.

SomatoEmotional Release therapist have the skills to help release those destructive patterns from the minds and bodies of patients/clients.   SER emphasizes the wholeness and self-healing. The goal is to achieve a comfortable body-mind approach to resolving problems and obstacles that inhibit personal progress and growth.

Key concepts and therapeutic processes of psychosynthesis are Gestalt and Jungian psychologies. These approaches are blended with SER and CST to provide specific techniques to assist the release of energy cysts and their accompanying dysfunctions, to resolve incomplete, frustrated biological processes, and to work with the whole body bringing the patient/client to a new level of self-awareness.

The SER process requires extreme sensitivity.   You'll learn new ways to improve your ability to facilitate through imagery and dialogue. These techniques focus on strengthening the relationship between the conscious and the nonconscious mind.
